Lexow Receives 2025 Jillian Kinzie Award

During the 2025 Assessment Institute in Indianapolis, several colleagues from High-Impact Practices (HIPs) in the States were recognized with prestigious awards honoring their leadership related to HIPs in higher education.    HIPs in the States is a network of individuals working on college and university campuses to promote HIPs—which are evidence-informed educational interventions aimed at promoting student engagement, fostering deep learning, and facilitating timely persistence to degree completion.  Matthew Lexow from Southwest was one of several recipients of the 2025 Jillian Kinzie Award for Recognizing Innovative Leadership for High-Impact Practices.   Other recipients were Jo-Ellen Becco, Pikes Peak Community College; Amy Cicchino, University of Central Florida; Jocelyn Evans, University of West Florida; Sara Evans, Kennesaw State University; Brandi Gilbert, Indiana University Indianapolis; Tom Hahn, Indiana University Indianapolis; Robin Schofield, Community College of Aurora; Michael Stephenson, University of Tampa; Jennifer Thorington-Springer, Indiana University Indianapolis; Carleen Vande Zande, National Association of Higher Education Systems; and John Zilvinskis, Binghamton University.  “We are delighted to recognize several individuals involved in providing leadership to HIPs in the States and championing High-Impact Practices in their respective contexts,” said Stephen Hundley, chair of the Assessment Institute in Indianapolis. “Students benefit from the rich experiences associated with HIPs, and these colleagues are to be commended for their dedication to student learning and success.”   Hosted by Indiana University Indianapolis, the Assessment Institute in Indianapolis is the nation’s oldest and largest event focused on assessing and improving higher education. Annual Institute events are scheduled through 2030. In addition to the annual conference in Indianapolis, the Assessment Institute offers a range of affiliated resources, including an international conference, a podcast, publications, a webinar series, communities of practice, and partnerships.
