Free mental health services offered to Southwest students

It鈥檚 ok to ask for help! Southwest鈥檚 Counseling and Social Services team is here.
Southwest is offering personal counseling, crisis counseling/intervention, and referrals through free counseling services available Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. by appointment or walk-ins. Sessions are provided via Microsoft Teams, in-person or by phone (for case-by-case situations).
Sessions must be scheduled by the student seeking counseling services; other individuals cannot schedule sessions on behalf of students such as teachers, staff, parents, etc.
The health-related services offered by Southwest counselors include, but are not limited to, the following common conditions:
- Depression
- Relationships
- ADD/ADHD
- Anger Management
- Life Management
- Anxiety and Stress
- Grief and Loss
- Domestic Violence
Referrals can be made to a psychiatrist, physician, medical provider, and for services needed outside of the department鈥檚 scope. Please note that the mental health counselors do not provide prescriptions for medications.
